How to transcribe an Instagram Reel

Convert the speech in a public Instagram Reel into an editable transcript you can quote, translate or reuse.

Updated:

Instagram Reels mix music, captions and speech. When the value is in what someone says, a transcript is the fastest way to keep it.

Paste a public Reel or video post link and BossyScript returns text you can edit and export.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Copy the Reel link

Open the Reel, tap the share icon and choose Copy link.

  2. 2

    Paste it into BossyScript

Use the Link tab. Sign in with Google first if needed — free, no card.

  3. 3

    Review and export

Check names and wording in the editor, then export TXT, DOCX or PDF.

What you can transcribe

Public Reels and video posts that the link can open. Private accounts, removed posts and content the platform restricts cannot be processed, so check that the Reel is visible to everyone first.

Getting a cleaner result

Reels often layer music under speech. Clear speech near the microphone transcribes best; if the result looks thin, the audio mix is usually the reason.

Ways to use the transcript

Repurpose a Reel into a blog post, write captions from the full script, keep notes from an expert you follow, or translate the message for another audience.

Common questions

Can I transcribe an Instagram Story?

BossyScript targets public Reels and video posts. Stories are usually private or temporary and may not be available.

Does music in the Reel affect the transcript?

Music can reduce accuracy when it overlaps speech. Speech-first Reels transcribe more reliably.

Can I export the transcript?

Yes, as TXT, DOCX or PDF, or copy it directly from the editor.
