How to transcribe a TikTok video

Get the spoken words from a public TikTok video as editable text — useful for captions, scripts and research.

Updated:

TikTok is built around short, spoken clips, but the words disappear as soon as the video ends. A transcript keeps them: for repurposing a script, quoting a source or adapting a video into another format.

BossyScript accepts public TikTok links, including the short vt.tiktok.com form.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Copy the TikTok link

Tap Share on the video and choose Copy link. Short links from vt.tiktok.com are fine.

  2. 2

Paste it into the Link tab

Sign in with Google if you have not yet; it is free and no card is required.

  3. 3

    Edit and export

Clean up the text, then copy it or export TXT, DOCX or PDF.

What works from TikTok

Public videos shared by their link. Private accounts, removed videos and content restricted by the platform cannot be transcribed.

Captions vs transcripts

TikTok captions are short on-screen text and are often incomplete. A transcript is the full spoken content, which you can trim into captions or keep as a script.

Practical uses

Turn a talking-head video into a script, pull quotes for a post, translate the idea into another language or keep a searchable record of a trend.

Common questions

Can I transcribe a private TikTok?

No. BossyScript can only process public videos that the link can open.

Does it work with short links?

Yes, both full and vt.tiktok.com links are supported.

How long does it take?

Short clips are usually ready quickly; processing time depends on the service load and the audio.
